If a builder expects you to enter into a contract with them and they don’t use either the HIA or MBA standard contracts, be wary.
They have had a contract written by their own solicitor. What have they removed from the standard contract or added into the contract?
Clauses that make their job easier? Restrictions to your rights? Elements that increase their profits?
Just a few of the possibilities that you may want to consider.
The HIA and MBA contracts have been written and are constantly updated to be as fair and equitable for both parties to the contract.
If your builder does not use them ask why. See what excuses they use.
